FREE THE STATES
Asserting State Sovereignty to Abolish Abortion
Established
2011 in Oklahoma
Mission
To Free the States from participating in the American abortion holocaust
History
The abolitionist movement came to Oklahoma in about 2011. In 2016, State Senator Joseph Silk introduced SB1118, a bill calling for the total abolition of abortion. Legislators in five other states offered similar bills following SB1118. State Representative Dan Fisher was inspired by the movement to run for Governor in 2018, with many prominent members of Free the States working on his campaign. By 2019, Free the States had become an established lobbying group dedicating all of its time and resources to the abolition of abortion. At their first rally at the Capitol in 2019, nearly a thousand people attended, and the second rally in February 2020 attracted between two and three thousand. In the 2020 Oklahoma Legislative session, SB13 (Silk’s newest abolitionist bill) was not advanced from the committee. In an effort to get the bill heard, Senator Silk offered a motion on the floor of the Senate on March 11, 2020. (Note: this is a possible but untraditional way for a bill to be brought before the Oklahoma Senate as it bypasses regular procedures). A motion to table the motion was approved and the bill was tabled indefinitely. Senator Silk did not seek re-election to his seat. Free the States and Ekklesia of Oklahoma backed as many as 14 abolitionists to challenge Republicans.
Beliefs
Free the States is a straightforward organization that does not mince words. They believe:
- Any and all abortion is murder in the eyes of God and writings of the Gospel
- Abortion is wrong because human beings are created in the image of God and because the Creator himself became a man in order to rescue mankind from sin, death, and eternal separation from God
- There are no exceptions to the complete abolition of abortion
- Any magistrate (politician) who does not immediately support the abolition of abortion is advocating for murder
- The right to murder babies is nowhere to be found in the Constitution
- The Supreme Court is a tyrannical body and oligarchy that is vehemently hostile to crucial practical implications of Christianity itself
- Roe vs. Wade is Unconstitutional and Unjust
- The Tenth Amendment gives states the right to pass abolition bills in nullification of federal law and ignore precedent set by the Supreme Court
- To compromise on abortion (anything less than abolition) is a sin
- To be a consistent Christian means to be an abolitionist
- No state in the Union is practicing good governmental rule in accordance with the higher law of God or upholding the revolutionary principles of the Declaration of Independence as the right to life has been completely denied to the preborn
